Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
On August 10, 2026, the Board of County Commissioners adopted Resolution 2026-141, establishing a moratorium on Data Center development in Kittitas County. The moratorium was extended on September 15, 2026, via Resolution 2026-150 through adoption of a workplan required under RCW 36.70A.390. The workplan outlines a review and regulation development process scheduled to conclude in one year. Pursuant to RCW 36.70A.390, the moratorium will require an extension through a public hearing in 2027.
