Property Tax Exemption & Deferrals

Definition & Characteristics:

There are three types of tax relief available for seniors, disabled persons, disabled veterans, and homeowners with limited income.

• Property tax exemptions: Property taxes are reduced as long as you meet the eligibility requirements and continue to own and live in your home
• Property tax deferrals: Property tax is deferred and payable at a later date, plus interest
• Property tax assistance: Property tax assistance for widows or widowers of veterans only
