Kittitas County Sheriff's Citizens Patrol Program

Citizen Patrol Car This program is modeled after VIPS programs across the United States utilizing volunteer citizens. VIPS two person teams patrol assigned areas; provide vacation property checks and Sheriff Office visibility to enhance public safety. While on patrol, volunteers act as the eyes and ears of law enforcement reporting suspicious activities without exposing themselves to risk. Volunteers may also perform security checks or assist law enforcement with other activities such as traffic control at community events or major incidents and neighborhood watch programs. They assist with transporting patrol vehicles for installation of equipment and participate in reserve training scenarios.

For more information regarding this program or other volunteer positions please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 509-962-7525.
