Kittitas County, WA - 04/21/2014 - Kittitas County Deputy Chuck Berg and his wife Stacy, ran the SeattleSea Hawks 12th man 12K run in the Renton area on April 13th. When Chuck and Stacy crossed the finish line, a woman collapsed near them. Chuck performed CPR on her until paramedics arrived. The 35 year old Tacoma woman, Sara Clerget survived.
Deputy Berg has been involved in Emergency Services for over 22 years. He has been a Deputy for 14 years and is a First Aid/CPR instructor who has taught hundreds of people to perform CPR during his career. He prides himself on teaching First Aid and the value of CPR training for saving lives. During her recovery, Clerget did a media and face book search to locate the person who helped save her life. (see link below) Deputy Berg responded after reading about her search and all the responses that were being posted about the incident. In his response, he agreed to meet with the family and challenged Clerget to run with him in next years 12 K event followed by a CPR skill contest using mannequins to help promote CPR training. " This is not the first time in his career that Deputy Berg has demonstrated the value of first aid training on and off duty."
