Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 08/21/2026 - The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Level 1 – “Get Ready” Evacuation Awareness notice for residences and communities along Salmon La Sac Road north of Davis Creek, on the west side of Lake Cle Elum.
The Sheriff’s Office uses a three-level Ready, Set, Go evacuation system. A Level 1 “Get Ready” notice means residents and visitors should stay informed, prepare for the possibility that conditions could worsen, and be ready in case evacuation becomes necessary.
This Level 1 notice is being issued in cooperation with the interagency team managing the Three Queens Fire near the north end of Lake Kachess and between Lake Kachess and Lake Cle Elum. The decision reflects several factors, including forecast weather conditions, limited routes into and out of the affected area, the development of the new King Fire north of the Three Queens Fire, and the need to maintain safe access for firefighting crews working on containment operations.
The Level 1 notice applies to residences on or accessed by the following roads:
Salmon La Sac Road north of Davis Creek
Lake Forest Drive
Lava Lane
Timber Cove Drive
Newport Creek Drive
Hex Mountain Drive
Anna Bell Drive
Bell View Drive
FSRD 4300-212
Carillon Cove Drive
Morgan Creek Road
Grandview Road
Beargrass Road
Lakeside Court
FSRD 4300-118
Night Sky Drive
If you live or are staying within the newly issued Level 1 area, use this time to prepare for the possibility of evacuation:
Review your emergency plan.
Assemble a go-kit with food, water, medications, important documents, essential personal items, and supplies for pets.
Make evacuation plans for pets, livestock, and family members with special needs.
If your household includes children, elderly residents, or people with mobility limitations, consider whether leaving early would help avoid delays if evacuation levels increase.
A current map of all active evacuation zones is available on the Emergency Management page of the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office website.
Evacuation notices and changes are also posted on the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
