Kittitas County Announces the Passing of Nicholas (Nick) Henderson

Kittitas County, WA - 10/22/2025 - Kittitas County Government announces with sadness the passing of Kittitas County Coroner Nicholas (Nick) Henderson.

Raised in Upper Kittitas County, Nicholas (Nick) Henderson served as the first elected Kittitas County Coroner since 2015 and oversaw the formation of the office and fulfillment of its responsibilities related to death investigations and public record reporting. During his tenure, he worked closely with local law enforcement, public health, funeral service providers, and emergency response agencies to ensure continued operations of the Coroner's Office. 

"Our thoughts are with Nick's family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time," said Commissioner Laura Osiadacz, Chair of the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners. "We extend our condolences and appreciation for his public service."

In accordance with county procedures, Chief Deputy Coroner Cori McKean will continue managing the office's daily duties until a new County Coroner is appointed. County operations will continue without interruption. 

Information regarding Mr. Henderson's memorial arrangements will be shared when available.  The County asks for respect for the family's privacy at this time.  Flags at Kittitas County facilities will be lowered to half-staff through Thursday October 23, 2025 in recognition for Coroner Henderson's service.
