Show Support for Veterans – Operation Green Light

Kittitas County, WA - 11/01/2024 - The National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO) have once again invited the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light and show support for veterans by lighting up their buildings in green from November 4-11, 2024.

For the third year in a row, Central Washington University, the City of Ellensburg, and Kittitas County will join NACo and NACVSO in showing their support for the men and women who selflessly served our country and their communities.
 
“Central Washington University is proud to show our support for veterans again this year by participating in Operation Green Light,” CWU President Jim Wohlpart said. “We appreciate the City of Ellensburg and Kittitas County for joining us in expressing our gratitude to the brave service members of the US Armed Forces who sacrifice every day to protect our freedoms.”
 
Government buildings in Kittitas County that will be illuminated in green from November 4-11 in honor of Operation Green Light include CWU’s Shaw-Smyser and Barge Hall, the City of Ellensburg’s City Hall sign, the Ellensburg Police Department, the Ellensburg Public Library/Hal Holmes Community Center, the Kittitas County Courthouse sign, and the World War II Memorial on Main Street.
 
“The City of Ellensburg is proud to join Central Washington University and Kittitas County in supporting Operation Green Light for the third year in a row,” Ellensburg Mayor Rich Elliott said. “This initiative is a meaningful way for us to acknowledge the tremendous contributions and sacrifices of our veterans. By shining a green light, we are not only expressing our gratitude but also standing in solidarity with those who have served, reminding them that their service is valued, and that resources are here to support them and their families.”

County offices will be closed on November 11 in recognition of Veterans Day to honor all who have served in the US Armed Forces.
