Kittitas County, WA -
The State Auditor’s Office conducts Financial Audits on local governments each year to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws while verifying that internal processes are functioning properly.
The 2022 Financial & Federal Single Audit has been published for Kittitas County by the State Auditor’s Office. This year’s report highlights that Kittitas County submitted a complete Annual Report on time and resolved several significant financial statement errors from the 2021 Audit.
The only material weakness noted in the 2022 Audit is regarding an administrative requirement to document that vendors receiving federal dollars are not suspended or disbarred. While SAO noted there was no questioned financial loss related to this finding, the Auditors Office takes these matters seriously and has already revised countywide internal procedures to ensure documentation of suspension and disbarment checks in the future.
County Auditor Bryan Elliott stated "Overall, the 2022 Audit Report represents a significant step forward for the county and reflects great credit on Budget & Finance Director, Brian Carlson, the County Finance Team and all of our departments who contributed to this audit, while ensuring the responsible and ethical use of county tax dollars."
