Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 02/15/2023 - The Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board, City of Ellensburg, and Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District invite streamside landowners and area residents with flooding concerns to a workshop to be held from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. on February 23rd at the Hal Holmes Center at 209 N. Ruby Street in Ellensburg.
Staff from the City of Ellensburg, the Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Kittitas County Conservation District, and Mid-Columbia Fisheries will be on hand to answer questions and connect people to resources about streamside stewardship and flood risk concerns. Doors will open at 5:00 with staff available to meet with residents about their individual concerns. At 5:30, there will be a facilitated panel discussion. For the remainder of the time staff will remain on hand to continue to meet with residents. Light refreshments will be served. “We are excited for people to come and meet with Flood Control Zone District staff and learn more about the work we are undertaking throughout the County,” says Arden Thomas, Kittitas County Water Resources Manager. “Our work is funded through the Flood Control Zone District levy, and this is a great opportunity to connect directly with our ratepayers about their flooding concerns. We are also grateful to the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board for their work organizing this event, and the participation by the City of Ellensburg, Conservation District, Department of Fish and Wildlife and Mid-Columbia Fisheries so that people can have access to a wide range of resources.” The Kittitas County Flood Control Zone District was formed in 2012.
