Kittitas County, WA -
The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners is currently seeking applicants to serve on the newly formed County Executive Management Advisory Committee.
The committee is tasked with examining the existing management structure of county government and provide recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners on potential changes. Under the current model prescribed by the Washington State Constitution, all management of offices and personnel not supervised by an elected county official resides under the Board of County Commissioners. Explaining the decision to form this advisory committee, Board Chairperson Laura Osiadacz stated, “As Kittitas County population continues to grow, our role as commissioners increasingly requires more focus on advocacy at the state and federal levels, coordinating with external governmental and private management agencies, and strengthening our process of strategic plan development. Internal management, especially of personnel matters, continues to take up the vast majority of our time as a Board.”
The committee, to be comprised of a mix of county elected officials, department heads, and budget managers, also will have a citizen volunteer from each commissioner district as well as one at-large citizen position. Facilitated by representatives from the Washington State Association of Counties, the committee’s work will take place over the next six months with a final recommendation to be presented to commissioners in early 2023. Discussing this process, Vice-Chair Cory Wright added, “I’m pleased WSAC will guide the formation of this committee’s ultimate product. I’m confident their knowledge and access to county officials from across the state will help inform this committee’s work and result in a well-researched recommendation for our county government’s future structure.”
Applications will be accepted through Friday, September 16th, 2022.
