Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 11/23/2020 - Today the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners approved a Resolution to temporarily allow code exemptions for businesses who are trying to adapt in response to COVID-19 restrictions.
The Resolution is a continued effort from Kittitas County to provide timely action and support during COVID-19 response for our local businesses. The temporary code exemption addresses emergency and economic response to COVID-19 “Many businesses such as food establishments are trying to increase outdoor seating space to maintain their livelihood while addressing safety concerns and we want to support those efforts. One example of how this resolution may help those establishments is by allowing temporary outdoor dining shelters to be placed without requiring a full footing and foundation or without requiring compliance with the energy code, as long as fire and life safety requirements are met.” CDS Director Dan Carlson.
“We support the efforts of local businesses who are working to adjust to restrictions in place,” states Kittitas County Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. “Local businesses are working hard to support themselves and we can certainly do our part to adapt our processes during this emergency as well.”
The Resolution is pursuant to the emergency authority granted to the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners under Revised Code of Washington (RCW) 38.52.070(2). More information is available on the Kittitas County website at www.co.kittitas.wa.us.
