Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington
State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and
the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA -
Kittitas County along with the rest of Washington State continues to be under a stay-at-home order to continue social distancing. Governor Jay Inslee extended the Washington State stay-at-home to May 4th, 2020. The local Kittitas County order will also be extended to April 23.
Kittitas County will continue to evaluate our local order on a ten day cycle, with the new order in effect from April 14 through April 23. Maintaining and reviewing a local order means that Kittitas County can address issues relevant specific to our county. All counties must comply with Governor Inslee’s state order, but we can also implement additional requirements if needed.
The review cycle will allow Kittitas County to examine statewide and local information and address changes as needed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. “At this time there are no additional changes to the stay-at-home order, with the exception of some clarifying language pertinent to vacation rentals in our county,” states Deputy Incident Commander Tristen Lamb. “The review cycle is in place for our local health order to keep us successfully moving forward.”
The Kittitas County Incident Management Team is already addressing concerns about safety after the Governor’s stay-at-home order expires. “Our message now to people is that COVID-19 is not going away, even after the stay-at-home order expires,” States Operations Section Chief Darren Higashiyama. “Kittitas County has been doing an amazing job at responding and we need to continue to be responding accordingly.”
