Portable Space Heaters
The Fire Marshal would like to remind the public about safety and the use of portable space heaters. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), heating equipment is the second-leading cause of home fires in the United States and the third-leading cause of home fire deaths between 2012 and 2016. More than half of all home heating fire deaths resulted from fires that were started because combustible material such as upholstered furniture, clothing, mattresses, or bedding were too close.
