Kittitas County, WA - 08/27/2018 - Kittitas County Search and Rescue volunteers responded to two calls of injured people this past weekend.
On Saturday, August 25th, Kittitas Search and Rescue responded to an injured rider on Deroux trail. A 58 year old Ellensburg woman had been riding her mule towards Gallagher when her mule slipped and rolled on top of her. She sustained a severe leg injury. She was brought out by SAR volunteers and taken to the hospital. On Saturday evening, SAR volunteers responded to a Seattle resident who had activated his satellite beacon. The 58 year old male was trail running when he became dizzy and fell and struck his head. He activated his satellite beacon which led SAR volunteers to Van Epps Pass off of the Esmeralda Basin trailhead. The subject was transported down by UTV and transferred to Kittitas Valley Hospital. Injuries can happen at any time while in the wilderness, please be prepared when you undertake journeys into the woods. Being prepared can save your life.
