Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 07/30/2018 - Kittitas County is currently experiencing changing air quality conditions. Smoke in our county is a result of Siberian smoke along with fires in British Columbia and Chelan. Yesterday, the Washington State Department of Ecology’s (Ecology) air monitor showed “unhealthy for sensitive groups” and the latest reading today, shows “moderate” air quality.
KCPHD wants residents to be aware of current air quality conditions in order to take necessary steps to avoid negative health effects. Air quality information can be accessed at any time via the Washington Air Quality Advisory (WAQA) online https://fortress.wa.gov/ecy/enviwa/. WAQA is a tool that measures the air quality with categories ranging from “good” to “hazardous” air. Additional resources include the following:
