Kittitas (pronounced 'kit-i-tass') County is located in central Washington
State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and
the Columbia River.
There were five high school students from Sanda City, Japan who came to visit Kittitas County from April
2, 2014 to April 4, 2014. They were accompanied by their English teacher, as well as their assistant
English teacher who is also a college student. Each student stayed with a host family and experienced
many activities during their short visit. They took part in a fly fishing demonstration from Worley
Bugger and tried their hand at tying their own fly’s; a walking tour of downtown Ellensburg; making
their own pizza’s at Cornerstone Pie and attend classes at Ellensburg High School for a full day.
Kittitas County has a total area of 2,333 square miles. The highest point in the county is Mount Daniel at 7,959 feet above sea level.
