Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Julie Halsen and Ryan Thompson were selected to represent Kittitas County at the Masters Marathon in Sanda City, Japan held in December of 2008. They were selected from a number of qualified applicants who were all interviewed by a panel representing the Sanda City Relations committee. Everyone who was interviewed would have made great ambassadors of Kittitas County making it an extremely difficult decision.
Julie is 32 years old and attended both high school and college in Kittitas County. She currently works for a local law office. She thoroughly enjoys running and has participated in various half marathons. Julie said she is very honored to represent Kittitas County and is looking forward to meeting many new friends in Japan.
Ryan is 31 years old and has lived in Kittitas County since the summer of 1999 when he moved to Ellensburg to attend Central Washington University. He is currently a police officer for Central Washington University and he is proud to be from Kittitas County. He considers it to be a great honor to represent the citizens of our county. Ryan enjoys outdoor activities and has experience in running half marathons.
