Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 05/26/2015 - Kittitas County Public Works and the City of Cle Elum Public Works cordially invite you to attend a public meeting on May 27th, 2015 at 6:00 pm to learn more about the County's intent to apply for Federal and State funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP).
The application intends to address erosion occurring due to bank instability at the Cle Elum Hanson Ponds. The proposed application will utilize the County's adopted Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and recommendations from hydraulic engineers and geomorphologist professionals. The proposed project includes repairing damage sustained during the January 2009 flood, including replacement of the footbridge, and providing mitigation to stabilize the soil and prevent further bank erosion. The conceptual mitigation plan includes rock and wood protection along the bank, bank vegetation, and new bridge supports which will increase the resiliency of the bank and bridge during future flood events. The FEMA HMGP grant will fund the final study and design, permitting, and construction. The meeting will be held at Cle Elum City Hall Council Chambers, 119 W First St, Cle Elum, on Wednesday, May 27th from 6:00-7:30 pm. For more information, please contact Christina Wollman at Kittitas County Public Works at 509-962-7523. All comments are requested to be submitted to the County by June 3, 2015.
