Burn Bans

There are 2 separate types of burn bans; those regarding fire safety and those regarding air quality.

1. Fire safety burn ban

Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue (Fire District 2) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Fire District 3 (Easton) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Fire District 4 (Vantage) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Fire District 51 (Snoqualmie Pass Fire & Rescue) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Fire District 6 (Ronald) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Fire District 7 (Cle Elum) There is no fire safety burn ban.
Areas outside fire districts There is no fire safety burn ban.
City of Cle Elum There is no fire safety burn ban.
Town of South Cle Elum There is no fire safety burn ban.
City of Roslyn There is no fire safety burn ban.
City of Ellensburg There is no fire safety burn ban.
City of Kittitas There is no fire safety burn ban.

Kittitas County implements a burn ban when the fire danger reaches a critical level. The burn ban includes all burning in unincorporated areas of the county.

2. Air quality burn ban

The Department of Ecology (DOE) governs air quality in Kittitas County and also regulates outdoor burning for air quality purposes. For further information, please contact the Department of Ecology at 509-575-2490 or you may visit their website athttp://www.ecy.wa.gov. The DOE may implement burn bans at any time during the year, and it is incumbent upon property owners to determine if an air quality burn ban is in effect.
