Construction efforts to improve the safety of Huntzinger Road from I-90 to the Wanapum Recreation Area Campground, MP 0.66 to 2.69 will begin on Monday September 11th, 2017. Improvements will include the installation of guardrail at identified hazard locations and the installation of flexible guide posts.
Kittitas County solicited bids for the construction efforts, sealed bids were opened on July 14th, 2017 with the low bid of $407,826.59 received from Petersen Brothers Inc. The project is partially funded by Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds, with a majority of the project funded by the Kittitas County Road Fund.
Construction will begin September 2017 and is expected to be completed in November 2017
Motorists should prepare for multiple single lane closures occurring simultaneously throughout this portion of roadway during daylight hours. Both motorized and non-motorized vehicles will be accommodated through the work zone by flaggers and or pilot cars.
