Kittitas County, WA - 04/15/2021 - Everyone 16 and over can access the COVID-19 vaccine beginning this week. Vaccines are effective at keeping you from getting COVID-19. You should not be charged or billed for a COVID-19 vaccine. Currently, individuals in Washington State can access vaccines via Pfizer or Moderna.
COVID-19 vaccination works by teaching your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this protects you from getting sick (CDC). Vaccination is an important tool to stop a pandemic. “Since 2020, we have had our eyes on when the COVID-19 vaccine was available to everyone,” states Darren Higashiyama, Incident Commander. “We have been looking forward to this moment for a long time with the intention of getting ourselves back to pre-pandemic life. Now we need people to recognize the downstream effects and take action. We need people to get vaccinated.” According to the Washington State Department of Health (DOH), Kittitas County has given 26,324 doses (as of April 10, 2021). Vaccine appointments are readily available (https://vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov/) in Kittitas County and the surrounding area. The Kittitas County Incident Management Team (IMT) encourages everyone to join the COVID-19 Community Meeting on April 15 from 5:30 pm to 7pm to ask about COVID-19 vaccines. Individuals will have the opportunity to ask about anything they’re unsure about to community meeting panelists, including local medical providers. Please use the following link to participate.
