Kittitas County, WA - 11/25/2020 - The elected Sheriff was sworn in at the Kittitas County Superior Court this morning.
Wednesday morning, 11/25/2020, Clay Myers was sworn in as elected Sheriff of Kittitas County by Presiding Superior Court Judge Scott Sparks. Sheriff Myers served as the prior Sheriff Gene Dana’s Undersheriff for 16 years, and was appointed as Sheriff by the Board of County Commissioners when Sheriff Dana retired in the middle of his final elected term in October 2019. Because the office of Sheriff is an elected position under our State Constitution, the matter was put to the voters at the next opportunity. Voters of Kittitas County affirmed Sheriff Myers’ position in November’s general election, and his term in office now extends until 2022. Sheriff Myers and Judge Sparks were joined in the courtroom by the County Clerk and the County Auditor, who certified the election results; his family; and members of his Command Team.
