Kittitas County, WA -
Information brought to a Sheriff's Supervisor last week, concerning one of the Sheriff's Civilian Employees, prompted a request of the Ellensburg Police Department to investigate. The investigation has resulted in the employees arrest.
Undersheriff Clay Myers stated that, "It is the Sheriff's Policy and Practice to request that an outside agency conduct the investigation when it involves criminal allegations. Having an independent investigation helps with transparency and the mitigation of perceived bias. In this particular case, the information involved alleged acts inside the city limits, putting this in the Ellensburg Police Departments Jurisdiction."
Asked about the Sheriff response, Myers said; "The employee has been placed on paid administrative leave pending review of the criminal information and initial internal investigation. All employees have the right to due process within the law, policy and their collective bargaining agreement, and that process will be followed."
