Kittitas County, WA - 10/15/2018 - On Sunday evening 10/14/2018 at around 6:30 P.M. Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Search and Rescue volunteers were dispatched to a report of a missing hiker on the Pacific Crest Trail in the area between Windy Pass and Mirror Lake in the area of Snoqualmie Pass.
30 year old Bellevue resident Evan Phillips got separated from his family at around 11:00 AM on Sunday. Evan was in light clothing with minimal supplies for a planned day hike. He found shelter in a portable toilet overnight but walked a significant distance during daylight hours and eventually went into the Seattle Public Utilities Cedar Creek Watershed in the North Bend area. He was located walking on a remote access road by an SPU employee at around 9:00 AM on Monday morning. He was picked up and transported back to be reunited with his family. He was cold and tired but not injured. “Hikers should always consider carrying a compass, water, snacks, extra clothing and supplies that will help them be prepared if they need to spend the night in the woods.” Sheriff Gene Dana
