Flu Shots – No Cost And No Reason To Get Out Of Your Car!

Kittitas County, WA - 10/08/2018 - The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) will be holding the annual drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on October 19, 2018. KCPHD will hold the drive-thru clinic at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds, again this year, on 8th and Alder Street (1010 E 8th) in front of the Western Village from 7 am to 4pm. We will vaccinate up to 200 adults for free (first come, first serve) and an unlimited supply for children who are always free of charge.

KCPHD has been conducting drive-thru flu vaccination clinics since 2003.  The department uses the annual drive-thru flu clinic to practice for the possibility of a disease outbreak that would either require vaccinating or distributing medication to large numbers of people in Kittitas County.

Getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent getting the flu and now you can protect yourself without even getting out of your car.  The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu shot every year.

It is especially important for certain groups of people to be vaccinated every year including:

  • Children aged six months up to their sixth birthday, but especially children younger than two years old,
  • Pregnant women,
  • People 65 years of age or older,
  • People of any age with certain chronic medical conditions,
  • People who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, and
  • People who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from the flu.

You will see signs for the drive-thru flu clinic, directing you to the parking lot in front of the Western Village.  A volunteer will direct you to a lane, where someone will complete your registration information, take payment if necessary, and direct you to a vaccinator.  Medical staff will provide you with the influenza vaccine while you are seated in your parked car.

If you have any questions about flu vaccination or about the drive-thru flu vaccination clinic, call the Kittitas County Public Health Department at (509) 962-7515.
