Kittitas County, WA -
On July, 8, 2018, Kittitas County Deputies responded to a drowning in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness area. 37 year old, Post Falls resident Michael Mitchell had day hiked into Tuck Lake with his brother and another friend.
Michael had attempted to swim to a small island in the lake. He began to struggle and he went under. His brother and friend attempted to rescue Michael to no avail. Chelan County Sheriff's Office Helicopter assisted in locating Michael approximately 60 feet off the shoreline in 15 feet of water. Cold water swimming can be dangerous and lead to shock and breathing difficulties. Our hearts go out to the Mitchell family.
