Kittitas (pronounced 'kit-i-tass') County is located in central Washington
State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and
the Columbia River.
Kittitas County is updating its Comprehensive plan as required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA).
Kittitas County’s comprehensive plan will establish policies for community growth and development for the next 20 years.
Kittitas County’s update process is required to be completed by June 30, 2017, see RCW 36.70A.130(5)(c).
In conjunction with the Board of County Commissioners and the Kittitas County Conference of Governments,
Kittitas County planning staff will review the existing comprehensive plan and other relevant planning
documents and subarea plans to determine the extent of the comprehensive planning process.
A public participation program has been developed which includes multiple opportunities for public participation
throughout the update process. The Board of County Commissioners adopted the Public Participation Program on July 21, 2015.
