Kittitas (pronounced 'kit-i-tass') County is located in central Washington
State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and
the Columbia River.
Kittitas County is updating its Comprehensive plan as required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA).
Kittitas County's comprehensive plan will establish policies for community growth and development for the next 20 years.
Kittitas County's update process is required to be completed by June 30, 2017, see RCW 36.70A.130(5)(c).
The Planning Commission evaluated two submitted Citizen-initiated Amendment Requests (CARs) at their regularly scheduled open public meeting on August 9, 2016, and recommended including the CAR topics as part of the Comprehensive Plan update process.
Representatives from each Advisory Group have now come together to create the Working Group. They will review topics and issues brought out in the previous advisory group meetings.
All Working Group meetings will be held at the Kittitas Valley Event Center located at 901 E. 7th Avenue in Ellensburg. The room noted on the meeting schedule is subject to change.
Based on community input during the visioning process the advisory groups include: land use, recreation and the natural environment, transportation, housing, resource lands, and economic development. The advisory group kick off meeting was held on June 21st and included setting future meeting times for each group.

Kittitas County Community Development Services held 6 visioning meetings in February and March 2016. County staff also developed an online community survey to address public comments and feedback from community groups.
Please review the Public Visioning Summary Report and the Addendum to Community Vision Report which reflect community input from the six community visioning meetings and the online community visioning survey.
