Bridge Monitoring
The monitoring and inspection of County bridge conditions has been an on-going program for years

Engineering | Bridges

Posted Bridge Load Limits

All county bridges are inspected for structure stability on a bi-annual basis. The county has staff trained to perform these functions. Structural deficient bridges are submitted for grant applications for repair or replacement.

This is a listing of all of the bridges on the county road system that have load limits posted less than legal loads. These bridges are normally posted for the three types of standard configuration of AASHTO truck axel spacing. If load calculations determine that a bridge is not capable of carrying a minimum gross live load of three tons the bridge must be closed.

  • West Fork Teanaway Road over Middle Fork Teanaway River
Bridge is posted for 22 tons for a Type truck 1, 27 tons for a Type 2, and 31 tons for a Type 3 truck. A new replacement estimate will be completed and BRAC funds may be applied for at the spring or fall BRAC meeting.
