Administration | Distressed Counties Sales & Use Tax Funding
RCW 82.14.370 "Sales and Use Tax for Public Facilities in Rural Counties"
Along with promoting economic development and job creation, these funds are for the purpose of financing public facilities which are defined as bridges, roads, domestic and industrial water facilities, sanitary sewer facilities, earth stabilization, storm sewer facilities, railroad, electricity, natural gas, buildings, structures, telecommunications infrastructure, transportation infrastructure or commercial infrastructure and port facilities in the state of Washington.
On April 14, 1998, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners signed a resolution accepting the
sales & use tax revenues, and also creating a public facilities fund effective July 1, 1998. On April 18, 2000, a resolution was signed that directed the Conference of Governments (COG) to select qualified applicants for the distribution of the Distressed County Sales & Use Tax with the guidance of the Board of County Commissioners.

Applications for 2011 Funding will be due to the Public Works Department by May
21, 2010, at 5:00 pm. Funding will not
be available until January 1, 2011.
