FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

National Guard activated for Jolly Mountain Fire (9-6-17)

Kittitas County, WA - 09/06/2017 - At the request of the Kittitas County Emergency Operations Center, the National Guard has been activated to assist with road blocks, traffic control and firefighting efforts for the Jolly Mountain Fire. This will free up local resources that have been dedicated to the fire and emergency operation efforts.

National Guard personnel will work directly under the EOC’s command for law enforcement support, while the firefighting personnel will work directly with the Pacific Northwest 2 Type 1 Incident Management Team.

National Guard members are from communities across the state and are often called in to assist local jurisdictions during emergencies.  Kittitas County also requested their assistance in 2014 for the Snag Canyon Fire.
