Kittitas County, WA - 05/24/2016 - The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate two long time Kittitas County Search and Rescue volunteers who received coveted awards for service from the Washington State Search and Rescue Volunteer Advisory Council on Saturday night at the WA State SAR Conference in Longview.
Jim Nale received the 2016 SAR Leadership Award. Jim has been a dedicated volunteer for 9 years and has held the Chairperson position within the program for the past six years. Jim has been instrumental in planning and creating the statewide competency-based curriculum and standards for SAR training. He is also a highly skilled grant writer and has obtained tens of thousands of dollars through various grants and programs that benefited the program and citizens of Kittitas County. Sara Vickers received the 2016 Meritorious Service Award . Sara has been a dedicated volunteer for 8 years and she is currently in the Vice Chairperson position within the program. Sara has devoted countless hours to fundraising, improving the program, and developing procedures and programs for helping new members that come into the program to feel welcome and get trained and ready for rescue missions. Sara continues to be a highly respected and sought after instructor at the yearly WA State SAR Conferences. Kittitas County Search and Rescue respond to an average of 70 to 80 missions a year.
