Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 01/28/2016 - To date, Washington State has experienced a mild influenza (flu) season. However, flu activity is increasing. The flu can affect anyone and can result in severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Recently, a healthy, unvaccinated school-age child from Kitsap County died from complications of a severe and rapidly progressing case of influenza.
The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) wants to encourage everyone to stop the spread of flu by getting vaccinated. The flu vaccine is the most important and most effective preventative step, but we also encourage prevention by covering your cough, washing your hands, and staying home when you are sick. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu shot every year.
