Kittitas County, WA - 09/29/2015 - ELLENSBURG, Wash.— The Kittitas County Fire Marshal announced today that Kittitas County will lift the burn ban effective October 1, 2015 at 8:00 a.m.
The burn ban was originally implemented in June of this year due to extremely high fire danger conditions. The recent and forecasted weather patterns, as well as increasing fuel moisture content, have significantly decreased the likelihood of a large fire event. Additionally, the Department of Natural Resources is set to lift their ban on October 1, 2015 as well. "While the burn ban is being lifted this week, it is to everyone's benefit to be diligent about any fires they do start. Proper disposal and maintenance of a fire or BBQ briquettes is key to minimizing the risk of a fire and helping our county remain virtually unscathed from a large scale fire event this year."
