Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 07/15/2014 - The Kittitas County Public Health Department (KCPHD) is looking for participants for a citizen advisory committee that will formulate a recommendation on the quantity of water to be issued with a mitigation certificate from the future Kittitas County water bank.
This committee will meet approximately once a month or less from October 2014 to May 2015 to discuss issues related to water quantity for residences that choose to mitigate their water usage through a publicly operated water bank. The committee will then make a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners on the gallons per day usage that will be allowed per residence. All new uses of ground water are required to be mitigated as of June 2, 2014 in efforts for Kittitas County to be compliant with the Washington State Growth Management Act. Kittitas County intends to offer mitigation through a publicly-operated water bank starting December 1, 2015 or sooner. “The Board of Health recommended that we convene this advisory committee,” said Robin Read, KCPHD Administrator, “and we are looking forward to the committee’s recommendation.” If you are interested in being appointed to the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, please submit a completed application form on or before August 15, 2014:
