Kittitas (pronounced 'KITT-i-tass') County is located in central Washington State. It spans from the lush forested Cascade Mountains to the upper Yakima River Valley plains and the Columbia River.
Kittitas County, WA - 07/28/2013 - Message from The Kittitas County Sheriff's Office to avoid recreation and travel in the Clockum Pass area as the Chelan County Fire, now estimated at 14,000 acres, has reached the Northern Border of Kittitas County.
We are requesting that all travel and recreation be avoided in the Tarpiscan, from the Clockum Pass to the Columbia River. As noted in the attached photograph, the fire has reached the Columbia River just north of Spanish Castle and is continuing to move South. Reports from Chelan County also state the fire is working towards the powerline road on Clockum Pass.
