Progress Update for the Kittitas County Community Health Assessment (CHA)

Kittitas County, WA - 11/21/2017 - The Community Health Assessment (CHA) process is underway! The CHA is an assessment of the county’s health, which occurs every five years, with the most recent CHA process starting in June of this year. The Community Health Assessment is a collaborative process with over twenty partners from various agencies participating. The process is collaborative as well as comprehensive, with four assessments falling under the CHA process: Community Themes and Strengths Assessment, Local Public Health System Assessment, Community Health Status Assessment, and Forces of Change Assessment. For each assessment area, committees have been formed and are working to compile information about what affects the health of Kittitas County.

Community Health Status Assessment:

  • Identifying and exploring data about the health of the community. Types of data being looked at include environmental health, behavioral risk factors, and communicable disease information.

Forces of Change Assessment:
  • Completed an evaluation of the events, factors and trends that shape the health of our county.

Community Themes and Strengths Assessment:
  • Sent out a survey as part of the broader Community Health Assessment designed to get the public’s input about the health and quality of life in Kittitas County.
  • Preliminary results from the survey show that survey participants would say our community is “healthy” and agree with the statement, “I am satisfied with the quality of life in our community”.
