FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

2013 PROPERTY TAXES

Kittitas County, WA - 02/22/2013 - The 2013 Tax Roll is now certified. Payments for these taxes are currently being accepted by mail, on our website, or in person at the Treasurer's Office.

As your Kittitas County Treasurer, Deanna Jo Panattoni, I am pleased to announce that certification of the 2013 tax roll has been completed by both the Treasurer's and Assessor's Offices.

The Treasurer's Office will mail over 47,000 statements for the 2013 tax year to the property owners of Kittitas County. Due to the recent budget reductions, the Kittitas County Treasurer's Office has experienced significant cutbacks. Although we will be operating with a smaller staff, we are committed to providing property owners with exemplary service regarding all inquiries and transactions related to property taxes. Our staff is available via phone (509)962-7535, in person by visiting our office or by email at: treasurer@co.kittitas.wa.us.

Since the vast majority of payments are received through the U.S. Postal Service, we offer this simple reminder to avoid late payments: mail early. Be aware of your mail pickup and delivery service schedule, as the U.S. Postal Service postmark is the key factor when determining if payments were mailed by their due date. Unfortunately, last minute mailings can result in delinquent taxes and interest assessments. As a reminder, April 30th, 2013 is the first half payment due date. Mail postmarked after that date shall be considered delinquent.

Our website continues to grow in popularity and we are pleased that so many property owners are finding the online payment option to be a very convenient and preferred payment method. Other features available at our website location include payment history, change of address notification, and property sales information. Please visit us online at www.co.kittitas.wa.us/treasurer.

The 2013 TV Improvement District tax will be assessed at $30.00 per household. The Treasurer's Office will be responsible for the collection of fees and the mailing of tax statements.  If you have questions regarding your payment, please contact the Treasurer's Office.

All other questions regarding reception, programming or assessment of the tax should be directed to the following:

  • KCTVDistrict@hotmail.com
  • Jim Mapes - Chairman of the TV District Board (509) 968-3719
  • Joel Underhill – (509) 968-4183
  • Sam Garrett – (509) 856-5074
  • Gerald Brong – (509)968-9805

Property owners of real and personal property, and those within the TV Improvement District, will receive an enclosure containing information designed to help answer frequently asked questions regarding items such as how mortgage payments are handled, senior exemptions, tax foreclosures, and the distraint process on personal property. In closing, I would like to invite you to play a part in our cost savings efforts by presenting your tax statement when making tax payments.
