Kittitas County Regional Shoreline Master Program Update - Initial Draft SMP Available For Public Comment
Kittitas County, WA - 01/30/2013 - The County, Ellensburg, Cle Elum, and South Cle Elum are working together to conduct a regional Shoreline Master Program update. An initial draft shoreline master program has been prepared and is available for public comment.
This document is based on staff recommendations and comments from the Citizen Advisory Committee CAC). The document is currently under review by the Department of Ecology and written public comments are encouraged. The initial draft SMP can be accessed online at: http://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/cds/smp/maps-text.asp.
Comments: Submit comments by February 11, 2013 to be considered at the February 20, 2013 CAC meeting and/or by March 11, 2013 to be considered at the March 20, 2013 CAC meeting. All comments will be considered for inclusion in a revised draft SMP being prepared for submittal to the Department of Ecology on April 20, 2013.
Background: Kittitas County and the Cities of Ellensburg, Cle Elum, and the Town of South Cle Elum have initiated participation in a multi-year process to develop a regional Shoreline Master Program (SMP), which will result in adoption of an independent SMP for each jurisdiction. In conjunction with the regional SMP update process, Kittitas County is also updating its Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO), see: http://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/cds/cao/default.asp
