Man arrested following hit and run and short chase in stolen pick up.
Kittitas County, WA - 12/21/2012 - Richard LaFollette, 41 from Yakima was arrested by Kittitas County Deputies following a short chase in a pick up truck stolen this morning from a residence on the Kittitas Highway near Ellensburg.
Shortly after 7 AM this morning, a Kittitas Highway resident, Robert Main, observed that his son's Mazda pick up truck was being stolen from their driveway. He and his son proceeded to follow the truck in another vehicle and at one point were run into by the truck. They continued onto Vantage Highway, #6 Road and Kittitas Highway into Ellensburg where deputies observed the vehicles and attempted to stop them. The truck allegedly struck two more vehicles as it entered Canyon Road near McDonalds. Deputies and Troopers followed the vehicle several miles south on Umptanum Road until it lost control coming to rest off the roadway..
The driver, who had an extensive criminal record, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Kittitas County Corrections center for hit and run, felony eluding, motor vehicle theft and a felon in possession of a fire arm.
