21 year old femal stabbed, Suspect arrested after 4 hour standoff.
Kittitas County, WA - 07/05/2012 - 24 year old Noel Rosas was taken into custody on the Vernita Bridge following a 4 hour negotiation with law enforcement after he fled the scene of a stabbing in Kittitas Countty
21 year old Emily Van Osten of Yakima is reported to be in stable condition at Harborview Medical Center after being stabbed by her ex-boyfriend during a child exchange in Vantage, 20 miles East of Ellensburg. Kittitas County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call about 2:00 PM yesterday when witnesses reported Rosas and Van Ostens were arguing at the Texico Station. The witnesses said he was suddenly chasing her and stabbing her with a knife.
Rosas fled the scene in his Maroon Rav 4 before Deputies arrived. Emergency Medical Personnel Treated the victim and the Sheriff's Office took custody of the two children, ages 2 and 4 until Children Services arrived.
About 4:30PM the suspect's vehicle was located at the rest area near the Vernita Bridge. The suspect ran out onto the bridge where he threatened to jump. Traffic was shut down and crisis negotiators worked with Rosas until he surrendered 4 hours later. He was taken into custody by Detectives and booked into the Kittitas County Jail on Felony Assault Charges.
