Notice of open houses for Regional Shoreline Master Program Update
Kittitas County, WA - 06/26/2012 - Kittitas County and the Cities of Ellensburg, Cle Elum, and the Town of South Cle Elum are participating in a multi-year process to develop a regional Shoreline Master Program (SMP). One component of this update is involvement of the public in reviewing draft materials and providing input toward creating a community vision for shoreline use, function, and enjoyment over the next 5-10 years.
The County, and the Cities and Town will jointly host two open houses on July 18th and 19th to formally kick-off the Regional SMP update process. An in-depth workshop focusing on creating a shared community vision for the County’s shorelines will follow later in the summer. The purpose of the July 18th and 19th open houses is to introduce the Regional SMP process and to begin gathering public input on the community’s shoreline vision. In addition to an update on the status of the Regional SMP, the open houses will also include a presentation of the draft inventory and characterization report and draft shoreline jurisdiction maps. The additional public workshop to be held in August or September will further develop the community’s shoreline vision and to create a strategy for updating the region’s shoreline regulations consistent with state law.
The open houses will begin at 6:30 PM at the following locations:

July 18th at Kittitas County Fairgrounds, Teanaway Hall at 512 N Poplar St, Ellensburg

July 19th Upper County Senior Center at 719 E 3rd St, Cle Elum
