Ellensburg man killed in Look Road accident
Kittitas County, WA - 05/07/2012 - On May 4th at 11:05 p.m. Kittitas County Deputies responded to a report of a collision on Look Rd in the area of Brickmill Rd. Upon arrival, deputies found a red pickup that had rolled over and ejected one of the occupants. The investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was Aaron Vandegraaf, age 23, of Ellensburg. Vandegraaf was not wearing a seatbelt and had been ejected. The passenger Richard Carmichael, age 22, of La Grande, OR. was wearing a seatbelt.
The two were traveling north on Look Road just north of Brickmill Road when the truck left the roadway and rolled multiple times. Vandegraaf received head injuries and was transported to KVCH where he succumbed to his injuries. Carmichael refused medical treatment at the scene and was transported from the area by KVFR personnel.
The WSP assisted with the collision investigation. It appears that alcohol and speed may have been contributing factors.
