Testing and employment sequence for Kittitas County's Sheriff's office
You must pass each phase in this process to continue in the process.
- Character test (background)
- Background check is part of the fitness evaluation process but is done
by sheriff's department.
- Personal history statement
- A background packet is given to several people whose name is ranked
highest on the list when a vacant position needs to be filled.
- Interview with sheriff's department
- The hiring authority interviews the people and selects one.
- Polygraph
- Scheduled about two weeks after the personal history interview.
- Psychological examination
- Given only if you pass the polygraph.
- Certification to sheriff for employment consideration
- When a vacancy is to be filled, three names from the top of the list are
given to the hiring authority.
- Personal history check
- Personal history statement. Criminal/credit/references check and
interview
- Appointment by the hiring authority
- You start a probation period on the day you report to work. The
probation period is normally 12 months in duration.
