Secondhand smoke survey
Secondhand smoke, or environmental tobacco smoke, is the smoke that is
emitted from the end of a burning cigarette, pipe or cigar or is the smoke that
is exhaled by a smoker. Every year 3,000 people who do not smoke get lung cancer
from secondhand smoke and up to 300,000 children under the age of 18 months get
pneumonia or bronchitis from breathing secondhand smoke. In the fall of 2002,
361 local residents filled out a survey regarding their attitudes and beliefs
around secondhand smoke. The winter of 2004, 247 local residents filled
