Can I get a First Aid Card at the public health department?
No; First Aid classes are offered through the American Red Cross at 509 925-5866.
Can I get a Hepatitis test at the public health department?
We test for Hepatitis C on Thursday mornings by appointment, and test for Hepatitis B by titer or blood draw by appointment. For an appointment, please call 509 962-7515.
Can I get a tuberculosis (TB) test at the public health department?
We schedule TB tests on Monday and Tuesday mornings by appointment only. Tests are $46, or based on a sliding fee scale. Please call 509-962-7515 to schedule an appointment.
Can I get my HIV certification at the public health department?
We offer HIV Awareness / Blood Borne Pathogen classes on the 3rd Thursday of every other month from 6:00-8:00 pm by appointment. Call 509-962-7515 to sign up. The cost is $25 for a two-year certification. A three-year certification is $35, and requires additional study materials. Please call 509-962-7515 for details, and to arrange for a 3-year certification.
I am in desperate need of health insurance, what do I do?
We have Basic Health applications here at the Public Health Office. You can also access these on line or call 1-800-826-2444.
I had my child's name legally changed in court, but his birth certificate is showing the old name. Why?
The court does not send court orders to the state vital records office to make the change. The parents or guardians need to send those original papers to the state vital records office. The address is Center for Health Statistics, PO Box 9709, Olympia WA 98507-9709
I have an abscessed tooth, and I need help now.
You can contact Family Dental Care at 509 962-2435. You can contact the Kittitas Valley Community Hospital ER at 509 962-9841. You can also talk to our oral health coordinator here at the Kittitas County Public Health Department.
I need to get birth control pills, when can I come in?
Kittitas County Public Health does not offer family planning any longer, you can contact Planned Parenthood at 509 925-7113.
I need to get food stamps, what do I do?
Contact DSHS at 509 925-0400.
I need to get medical coupons, what do I do?
Contact DSHS at 925-0400.
I need to get my childs fathers name put on his birth certificate, how do I do that?
You need a Paternity Affidavit. These are available at our office or any Public Health Department in the State. The Paternity Affidavit needs to be filled out, signed, and notarized by the mother and father. Completed Paternity Affidavits need to be mailed to the state vital records office of the state in which the birth occurred.
I need to have a pregnancy test done, when can I come in?
Kittitas County Public Health does not offer family planning; you can contact Planned Parenthood at (509) 925-7113 or Care Net Pregnancy of Kittitas County at (509) 925-2273.
My baby is 6 months old and the hospital still has not sent me her birth certificate. I am trying to get her into day care what do I do?
Kittitas Valley Community Hospital and most other hospitals do not automatically send the birth certificate to new parents, it has to be ordered through a health department in the state in which the child was born. It can also be ordered through the state vital records office. In Washington, that number is 360 236-4300.
My baby is 6 months old and the hospital still has not sent me her social security card, what do I do?
Hospitals do not automatically send parents or guardians the childs birth certificates or social security cards. You need to obtain a certified copy of the childs birth certificate and take it to the Social Security Office in Yakima at 717 Fruitvale Blvd. The number is 1-800-772-1213.
My child is covered with a rash, I am afraid she has the measles, can I see a nurse?
We do not offer diagnosis or treatment here at Kittitas County Public Health. You need to contact your physician, your local ER, or the Kittitas Valley Community Hospital ER at 509 962-9841.
My childs eyes are covered with a red, oozy substance. Can you help me?
We do not offer diagnosis or treatment here at Kittitas County Public Health, you need to contact your physician, your local ER or the Kittitas Valley Community Hospital ER at 509 925-9841.
My neighbor uses his back field to pile dead cows in, and the smell is horrendous. Can you send someone out to arrest him?

Will you bill L&I? I was injured at work and need a Tetanus & Diphtheria (td) shot, but my doctor is out of the td vaccine.
Kittitas County Public Health does not bill L&I because we do not have a doctor on staff. Call Central WA Occupational Health at 509 962-2515 - they focus on work-related accidents and bill L & I.
