Community Health AssessmentCommunity Health Assessment is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and disseminating a broad range of health and injury data about Kittitas County. This data helps the Public Health Department determine the impact of its programs, ensuring the Public Health Department is doing the right things and doing things right. On a broader scale, the Public Health Department brings this information to the table with other health and social service organizations county-wide as they work together to prioritize health issues, avoid duplication and plan the most efficient, cost-effective way for needs to be addressed. We can help you find any health, population, behavioral, injury, or other data you may be looking for. Just give us a call at 509-962-7515. IssuesAssessment is one of three core functions of Public Health as identified by the Institute of Medicine in a 1989 report. Likewise, assessment is the cornerstone of the public health system in Washington State (as outlined in the Public Health Improvement Partnership) and in Kittitas County. Community Health Assessment is responsible for developing a system-wide process for producing internal and external assessment data, for interpreting this data, and for making this data available to the public and other constituencies such as the Kittitas County Board of Health and the Board of Health Advisory Committee. Community Health Assessment also tracks the status of identified county health indicators as well as trends in health, illness, injury and death at the state and local levels, the factors affecting these trends, and the degree to which the trends need to be encouraged or arrested. Within the Department, Community Health Assessment provides leadership to the department management team and staff to develop and implement program evaluation processes for all programs through the work of the Quality Improvement Leadership Team.
