Welcome to Kittitas County Public Health! The staff and I are glad that you have contacted us, and we are looking forward to answering any questions you might have or directing you toward the information you are seeking.

As part of the public health network in Washington State, Kittitas County Public Health Department provides critical programs and services for all people in our county - from drinking water protection to disease prevention. Our services help the Easton, Roslyn, Ronald, Cle Elum, South Cle Elum, Thorp, Liberty, Ellensburg, Kittitas and Vantage communities to be healthy places to live, work and play. We serve as a resource for reliable health information and strive to protect all of our communities from hazards in the environment.

The Work of Public Health in Kittitas County Provides

Essential programs for improving health
Programs such as adult and children's immunizations, communicable disease prevention, and chronic disease prevention programs such as our Youth and Adult Tobacco Prevention and HIV/AIDS prevention programs help individuals and communities stay healthy.

Information that works
Resources such as educational and training programs, community health reports (community assessments) and statewide health and safety information provide individuals and communities information they can use to make good decisions.

Protection for you and your family every day
Services such as drinking water monitoring, septic system inspections, restaurant inspections, disease prevention and planned community crisis response ensure individual and community health and safety.

Our Work

Our commitment to the vision and mission of the department is carried out each day in the following tasks:

1. Monitoring the health status of residents to identify community health problems.
2. Diagnosing and investigating health problems and health hazards in the community.
3. Informing, educating, and empowering people about health issues.
4. Mobilizing community partnerships to identify and solve health problems.
5. Developing policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
6. Enforcing laws and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
7. Linking people to needed personal health services and assuring the provision of health care when otherwise available.
8. Assuring a competent public health and personal health care workforce.
9. Evaluating effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.
10. Researching new insights and innovative solutions to health problems

Our work is guided by a strategic plan that was developed using input from the local Board of Health, Board of Health Advisory Committee, and all Kittitas County Public Health Department employees.
