Kittitas County Extension

Helping You Put Knowledge to Work!

In a year’s time, the Kittitas County Extension program contacts an average of 33,708 people through short courses, workshops, seminars, tours, committee meetings, volunteer programs, field days and through Extension newsletters as well as individual consultations. This figure does not include contacts through the media.

Educational programs/resources are offered in the areas of:

  • Agriculture and Natural Resources
  • 4-H/Youth Development
  • Family Living
  • Community Resource Development

For more detailed information on programs refer to the yearly Update, available each year in October.

Extension programs utilize volunteer outreach in the areas of 4-H, and Master Gardeners. These volunteers receive training and educational materials in exchange for service they provide for the Extension program.

A total of 142 volunteers spend an estimated 23,563 hours per year at a value of $425,076* to further Extension programs in Kittitas County (*based on Independent Sector Value of Adult Volunteers at $18.04 per hour).

WSU Extension is a partnership of USDA at the federal level, WSU at the state level, and Kittitas County. WSU's contribution includes agents' salaries/benefits, some travel, publications, some postage, in-service training, and specialist support. Kittitas County provides staff salary/ benefits, supplies, equipment, telephone, some postage, some travel, office space, and a contribution to WSU for one director and one educator.
