Community Development Services staff and Commissioner Jewell worked with interested community members to develop a proposed Kittitas County Code amendment that will allow for Community Wind Energy Systems. Meetings took place from January, 2010 through March, 2010. Three open houses took place, with one on 4/27/2010 in Ellensburg, one on 4/28/2010 in Thorp, and one on 4/29/2010 in Cle Elum. The purpose of the public open houses was to introduce this proposal to the public, answer questions, and encourage public input and comments to be provided to the Planning Commission. The Planning Commission held a public meeting on 5/11/2010 for this proposal and will deliberate on 5/18/2010.
Community Development Services is requesting that the Board set a public hearing for additional public review and testimony regarding this proposed code amendment.
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WILL MEET AT THE ABOVE STATED TIME AND PLACE AT THE HOUR DESIGNATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVISING KITTITAS COUNTY CODE TO ADD A NEW SECTION TITLED 17.61C "COMMUNITY WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS" AND TO REVISE SECTIONS 17.61A "WIND FARM RESOURCE OVERLAY ZONE."
ANY PERSON MAY APPEAR AT THE MEETING OR ANY ADJOURNED MEETING THEREOF, AND MAKE OBJECTION TO REVISING KITTITAS COUNTY CODE TO ADD A NEW SECTION TITLED 17.61C "COMMUNITY WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS" AND TO REVISE SECTIONS 17.61A "WIND FARM RESOURCE OVERLAY ZONE." If you cannot attend, written comment can be submitted to the Commissioners prior to hearing time.
Anyone with an interest in this matter is urged to attend said hearing where all testimony will be taken. Written comments may be received at 205 W 5th Ave. STE 108, Ellensburg, WA 98926 at or prior to the hearing.
